The line of authentically replicated Classic frieght cars features prototypical reproductions of rolling stock operated by familiar companies who relied on railroad transport in their everyday business. Every detail has been carefully planned and researched to bring you accurate reproductions of the paint schemes and designs of the private owners.
This colorful vat car is prototypically reproduced from the real Heinz wood-sided cars. By 1900 the Heinz company was the largest producer of pickles, vinegar and ketchup. The company had several hundred freight cars in its fleet and used them to transport product. Wooden cars were especially important because, unlike metal cars, they would not corrode when exposed to the salt from the pickles.
