The Daylight Can Now Grace Your Pike

Southern Pacific’s service along the coastal route from San Francisco to Los Angeles improved greatly in 1937 when they took delivery of two sets of passenger cars and six streamlined GS-4 locomotives. Reproduced in prototypical detail, the stunning red, orange and black Southern Pacific livery adorns the engine and tender, extending down the sides of these 15 inch Heavyweight passenger cars, to create what was often called 'The World’s Most Beautiful Train.'

The GS-4 was one of the largest and most powerful streamlined locomotives ever built, puling as many as 20 cars along the graded terrain of the Daylight Route. The most distinctive features of this locomotive are replicated in the model version, including the curved steps leading up to an enclosed all-weather cab and operating MARS light above the headlight on the smokebox door. This K-LINE engine also features an opening cab roof and pilot truck detail, unlike any other GS-4 model. This die cast behemoth operates on 31 inch curves and features the industry standard sound and control systems, Lionel RailSounds and TrainMaster Command Control.

The 15 inch Heavyweights and Express Service Boxcar are a perfect complement to the Daylight Steamer.
