This late model Challenger is based on the second version of this mammoth, articulated steamer ordered by Union Pacific. Locomotive manufacturer Alco produced these engines from 1942 until 1944. Several changes were made over the first version that allowed the engine to run faster. One visual difference are the twin stacks. This K-LINE version is a continuation of the Titan series that features large articulateds that have been reduced to operate on O-31 curves. This new engine features cruise control in both conventional and command version for consistent speed on a variety of track conditions. The command loco utilizes Lionel Command Control, RailSounds and electrocouplers.
