Heavyweight Passenger Cars

Both the Minute Man and the Defense Special were part of Defense Exhibit Trains of World War II. These trains traveled around the country to manufacturing centers to help manufacturers determine whether they could do defense work. Each eight car train had six exhibit cars and two cars with living quarters for the staff of 36. These 18 inch Heavyweights replicate 72 foot cars and feature fully furnished interiors with figures, patented overhead StreamLighting, die cast six-wheel trucks and diaphragms. Choose from New York Central, Southern Railway or Chicago & Alton. Each of these colorful sets reminds us of the days of luxury rail travel when time moved slower and everyone enjoyed the journey, not just the destination.
