K4601-30111   AFT #MAFT111 Display Car, "1976-1996" American Freedom Train
    $124.95 ea.
K4601-30111

The panels and shadowboxes that graced the sides of the American Freedom Train's ten display cars each showcased a decade of America's history. K-LINE, in association with The Museum of America's Freedom Trains, is proud to announce a very special 11th display car with panels and shadowboxes illustrating two more decades of American life. Designed by a member of the Museum, the four images closely follow the precedents set by the original 40 panels and shadowboxes. Each contains images from our heritage in politics, technology, innovation, art, culture and history. And often the line is blurred between them.

The panel for the decade 1976-1986 depicts the logo of the American Revolution Bicentennial Administration, President Jimmy Carter flanked by Israel's Menahem Begin and Egypt's Anwar and President Ronald Reagan. The panel for the decade 1986-1996 depicts Bill Clinton (the original 40 panels depict virtually every president since FDR), the B-2 Stealth bomber, General H. Norman Schwarzkopf and troops salute President George H. W. Bush at the close of the 1991 Gulf War. The shadowbox for the decade 1976-1986 contains the the Space Shuttle, the Viking I and the home computer. The shadowbox for the decade 1986-1996 contains The Statue of Liberty on the night of her 100th anniversary, July 4, 1986. Numbering the car “MAFT111” is both a nod to the Museum and a way of differentiating it from the original car #111; one of the two power cars on the AFT.

For each of these special 11th display cars they produce, K-LINE will donate $5 to The Museum of America's Freedom Trains to help support their efforts to keep the heritage of America's two Freedom Trains alive.
