K2438-0856HS

The scale model of this Fairbanks-Morse Trainmaster, a 2400hp diesel, recalls the nostalgia of the 1950s, while updating the detailing and operational features to the 21st Century. These have been detailed as never before. The K-LINE Trainmaster will feature prototypical screens at the front of the hood with visible fans, prototypical handrails with a drop step at each end.

The Lackawanna purchased 10 Trainmasters in 1953 to handle a variety of tasks on the railroad. They were so successful, they purchased 2 more in 1956. These were the next to last Trainmasters built. In a typical month the 10 units ran 61,000 miles with 60% in freight service. The balance was suburban passenger service. These engines were able to operate in both directions without turning around.
