No longer do PRR fans need to envy Santa Fe fans and their variety of bi-level cars. Many fans of the PRR know that the tunnel height of the railroad influenced the kinds of cars that ran on the rails. In the late 1930s and early 1940s Pennsylvania experiemented with double level dining cars, based on designs by noted industrial designer Raymond Loewy and the Budd Company. The cars were supposed to take advantage of the prefabricated food, dehydrated and canned, that was becoming available. Neither the food experiments, nor the car experiments were ever implemented.

These tuscan and gold, 18? aluminum cars are based those original drawings of Loewy?s double deck dining cars. The cars are named for Presidents of the PRR and the inspiration for these cars, Rayomond Loewy. They have also been designed to negotiate 31 inch curves, so they can run on any layout.
