In the years since its first appearance in 1948 in a now famous train catalog, the black and red Santa Fe Warbonnet has become the stuff of legend. Everyone wondered why it was black one year and silver the next.

Fast forward over 50 years are K-LINE brings these striking diesels out and creates a stir in the marketplace. Some call the paint sceme the Blackbonnet, while others call it the Midnight Chief. Regardless of the name, everyone wants these. A complete train seemed to be a natural extension of this excitement.

18' passenger cars, dubbed the Midnight Chief, are available for fans of SF passenger service. These dynamic cars will be talk of any layout. And they go around a 31' Curve with our newly designed sliding apron.
